Special Appearance by 2010 Miss NFPB, Rachel Kelderman
On April 11, 2010, Rachel Kelderman was crowned the 14th Miss NFPB during the National Federation of Professional Bull Riders Finals in St. Joseph, Mo.
“I am so honored to be the first woman from Colorado to hold this title, coming from the state where rodeo first got its start” Rachel said after winning. On her was to winning the title, Rachel also received the coveted horsemanship award.
Rachel is the 26 year old daughter of Larry and Sharon Kelderman and the sister to Josh and Charity. Rachel is also the aunt to Mitchell and Delilah. She proudly calls Erie, Colorado home and looks forward to traveling the United States as the representative of the National Federation of Professional Bull Riders.
Rachel is a graduate of Northeastern Junior College with a degree in Production Agriculture and also studied Equine Management and Photography at Front Range Community College. Rachel currently works as a professional photographer, and recently spent time living in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she photographed hundreds of weddings for the thousands of people who flock to Las Vegas each year to get married. While she’s captured precious memories in chapels all over the city of lights, Rachel has aspirations to someday be in the arena as a rodeo photographer.
As a fifth Generation Coloradoan, Rachel always has always has intense love for horses and rodeo. She began riding at the age of 8, despite being so allergic to them at the time, she never gave up. Her parents say that she was bit by the horse bug, and there was no going back. Rachel was involved with 4-H, FFA, AQHA, APHA, Colorado Professional Rodeo and the NIRA College Rodeo.
When Rachel isn’t busy being Miss NFPB, she spends her time training her young Paint mare “Chloe” and playing with her best friend and traveling buddy, “Leroy”, a miniature Dachshund. Rachel also enjoys cooking, scrap booking, making jewelry, teaching her niece and nephew how to ride horses and watching her dad and brother build and legally drag race Japanese cars.
Rachel will represent the NFPB and the state of Colorado at the 46th Annual 2011 Miss Rodeo USA Pageant in January during the International Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She will compete against other titleholders from across the nation, in the categories of Horsemanship, Personality, Appearance and Speech. “Serving as Miss NFPB this next year will be an endeavor that I’m excited to tackle” Rachel says. “ I will represent the NFPB with grace, dignity and integrity”
