Town & Country Bank donates $500 to Fair Building Project
April 19, 2010
Town & Country Bank presented a check for $500 to the Phelps County Fair Board this month. The donation will help fund the group’s ongoing construction project to add additional restrooms, storage and a new kitchen to the fairground.
"In 2006, the Phelps County Fair Board set a goal to improve the grounds…many of our buildings were in desperate need of repair,” says Renae Hammon, president of the fair board. “With our fund raising efforts and a lot of volunteer labor, we’ve been able to build a new barn, show arena and bathrooms with handicap accessible showers and restrooms.
“This spring, our goal is to improve the food stands and add additional restrooms and storage,” Hammon continues. “A metal canopy will be added from the stands to the kitchen to provide shelter from the heat and weather. We would like to thank local businesses like Town & Country Bank who generously helped us with these projects.”
Caren Whites, branch manager at Town & Country Bank, says that the fair is a wonderful tradition that the bank is proud to support. “Our community is fortunate to have this group of dedicated volunteers…people who donate their time to make these improvements. It really is an investment in the future of our fair.”
