The World's Finest Rolla German Band has been playing mostly German music since the 1980's with several of its founding members still with the group. The band is dedicated to sharing the joy of music with audiences young and old. Funds raised by the band are used to support Rolla area youth interested in instrumental music through scholarships and donations to bands, the the Rolla Town Band, which give youth an opportunity to interact with fellow musicians of all generations.
The group's long-time composer/arranger, Harold Cleveland, wrote or arranged over 400 tunes for the band ranging from traditional German tunes to patriotic Dixie Land. Harold also played tuba for the group until failing health forced his retirement at age 94. Many of Harold's tunes are playfully satirical, much like the band's name. In all the years The World's Finest Rolla German Band has been in existence, there has only been ONE German Band in Rolla.
